In the context of the NFV Plugtests Programme, ETSI's Centre for Testing and Interoperability organised a Remote NFV API Plugtests™ during the February-April 2019 timeframe.
The Remote NFV API Plugtests offered NFV vendors and open source projects an opportunity to validate their implementation of NFV SOL APIs.
Individual API Validation Test Sessions were offered to VNF, EM, VNFM and NFVO providers exposing ther NFV SOL002, SOL003 or SOL005 implementations.
Hardware and VIM providers were also invited to support the testing with their implementations.
Organisations interested in actively participating or providing support to the Test Sessions were invited to join the ETSI NFV Plugtests Programme and register to the Remote NFV API Plugtests.
The individual Test Sessions were run remotely with the support of dedicated experts, leveraging the Hub for Interoperability and Validation at ETSI (HIVE) to interconnect participants’ labs and local test infrastructure in ETSI.
The ETSI NFV Plugtests Programme enjoys of a diverse community of over 65 organisations active in the NFV ecosystem, including vendors, operators and several supporting open source projects like ETSI OSM, OPNFV, Open Baton, OpenStack, Open Air Interface Software Alliance and SonataNFV. NFV Plugtests activities offer a unique opportunity to exchange, collaborate and make significant progress in NFV implementations and standards.
NFV Plugtests are supported by the European Commission.

The Remote NFV API Plugtests focused on validating implementations of the following NFV Specifications:
- NFV-SOL002 - RESTful protocols specification for the Ve-Vnfm Reference Point
- NFV-SOL003 - RESTful protocols specification for the Or-Vnfm Reference Point
- NFV-SOL005 - RESTful protocols specification for the Os-Ma-nfvo Reference Point
Individual API Validation Test Sessions will be run independently with each of the participating implementations with the support of dedicated experts.
The testing were also to progress and validated the NFV Conformance Test Methodology and Suites being developed by ETSI NFV ISG.
Individual results will remain private to participating organisations. Overall aggregated results and lessons learnt will be compiled and analysed in the Plugtests Report.
This activity is supported by the European Commission.

Organisations needed to register to the ETSI NFV Plugtests Programme to participate to the Test Sessions. Participation to the NFV Plugtests Programme activities requires the signature of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Registration is confirmed and access to the remote test infrastructure is provided only once the NDA signed.
Individual Test Sessions are scheduled with each implementation and supported by a dedicated expert in the February – April time frame. Test sessions need to be supported by at least one representative of the participating organisation. Test Session scheduling takes into account participants’ time-zone and availability.
Participation to ETSI NFV Plugtests activities is free of charge.
