ETSI, in partnership with the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) and co-funded by the European Commission (EC), and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), is organizing the 4th C-V2X PlugtestsTM. This Plugtests will be hosted by DEKRA in Malaga, Spain, from 10 to 13 September 2024.

What are the objectives and scope of the 4th C-V2X PLUGTESTS event?

C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) is an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) service using mobile communication technology for direct communication as well as network communication between vehicles, from vehicle to pedestrian and from vehicle to infrastructure.

The 4th C-V2X PLUGTESTS event will enable On-Board-Units (OBUs), Roadside-Units (RSUs) and Public key infrastructure (PKIs) vendors to run interoperability test sessions to assess the level of interoperability of their implementation and validate the understanding of the standards. The goal of interoperability testing is to check that implementations of devices with different form factors can work together and provide the functionalities specified in the standards.

This edition of the Plugtests event will focus on testing direct communication between devices using ETSI TC ITS Release 2 standards, including Collective Perception Services (CPS), and Vulnerable Road Users (VRU). The event will also explore the integration of ITS services over 5G NR Sidelink and the critical aspect of ITS security. It aims to validate the interoperability and functionality of C-V2X communications in facilitating safer and more efficient transportation systems.

This face-to-face event will provide an opportunity to test C-V2X devices, in both lab and field environments at the DEKRA site in Malaga, Spain.

The test cases are mainly based on ETSI ITS standards and 3GPP test specifications. In addition to test scenarios from the previous C-V2X PLUGTESTS events, new use cases are added for the lab and field-based interoperability testing.

This event will allow testing in the ITS ecosystem under real life conditions from infrastructure to applications in vehicles, thus demonstrating interoperability of C-V2X equipment. A unique chance for solution providers to maximize the effectiveness of their ITS solutions in test environments. Test Equipment vendors will have the possibility to run the test sessions during the event.

What are the advantages of attending the 4th C-V2X PLUGTESTS event?

  • To assess the level of interoperability of your implementations
  • To validate your understanding of the standards
  • To test with (many) other real implementations and demonstrate end-to-end interoperability
  • To debug your implementation: early bug fixing, saving time and costs
  • To promote the technology and the ecosystem

Highway operators, automobile manufacturers and government bodies/authorities are welcome as observers. Observers will be able to evaluate the test statistics in the TRT (Test Reporting Tool) provided the Rules of Engagement and Non-Disclosure Agreement of the ITS PLUGTESTS Programme have been signed.

The 4th C-V2X PLUGTESTS will be combined with an associated C-V2X Workshop, which will present and discuss updates on the latest developments.

ETSI PLUGTESTS events are organized by ETSI and co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

It is recommended that you organize flexible travels.

REGISTRATION

All participants, observers included, must register in order to attend the event. By registering for this event, organizations will join the ITS PLUGTESTS Programme. This Programme provides a continuous and ubiquitous environment for collaborative testing and validation activities among different organizations.

All participants are expected to register individually. Each first person to register within an organization is de facto the official contact for technical and logistics matters.

The registration deadline is 7 June 2024.

The event is free of charge.

RoE and NDA

By registering for the 4th C-V2X Plugtests event, new participating organizations will be asked to sign the Rules of Engagement (RoE) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which they will receive upon registration.

These RoE and NDA will cover the series of remote and face-to-face Plugtests events which will be held as part of the ITS Plugtests Programme. Companies which previously signed the RoE and NDA of the ITS Plugtests Programme when registering to one of the past C-V2X Plugtests events, will not need to sign the RoE and NDA again: only new organizations joining the Programme will receive the RoE and NDA for signature.

Further to the signature of the Rules of Engagement (RoE) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) sent to the official contact, the participants will receive their credentials for the 4th C-V2X Plugtests WIKI, be subscribed to the PLUGTESTS mailing list dedicated to the 4th C-V2X PLUGTESTS event and receive invitations to the preparation conference calls.

The deadline to sign the RoE and NDAs is 14 June 2024.

The organizations already part of the ITS PLUGTESTS Programme were not asked to sign the RoE and NDA again.

INFORMATION ABOUT VENUE AND INVITATION LETTERS

Information to prepare the travel is available in the WIKI, accessible upon signature of the Rules of Engagement and NDA. To receive an invitation letter for the visa, the participant must register to the event first.  Once the Rules of Engagement and NDA signed, necessary information such as about the invitation letter from our host DEKRA can be found in the WIKI.
