ETSI Event: How to teach the Next Generation of ICT Standards People
Sophia Antipolis, 12 October 2022
On 6 October, ETSI organized its first workshop dedicated to present the full teaching material for ICT standardization, available from our website. The ETSI education about standardization programme started in 2016. This event was addressed to educators at university level and professionals. The audience comprised national standards organizations, university professors and Intellectual Property experts.
The various presentations outlined the different chapters of the textbook and the accompanying slides, as well as proposals of best practices and teaching methods from the authors who are also lecturers. Authors come from Politecnico di Milano, the University of Genoa, the Spanish National Distance Learning University, the Eindhoven University of Technology and Polytech Paris and Nice in France. In the course of the day, they shared their experience and how to adapt the courses to the different levels of students. The ETSI Director-General's final presentation on strategy and standardization was warmly received. He pointed out how much standardization was part of companies’ commercial strategies nowadays.
All of the audience fully participated and there was a strong two-way interaction. A polling at the start of the first session and at the wrap up session of the event gave rise to a good level of discussion. It was also very useful feedback for ETSI future actions to raise awareness about education for ICT standardization.
More ETSI events on education about ICT standardization are planned over the next few months.
Presentations of the event can be downloaded from our server.
