The Award committee composed of the GA Chair and Vice-Chairs, the Board Chair and the ETSI Director-General, nominated Dr. Gabrielle Owen, Mr. Charles Brookson, Ms. Nurit Sprecher, Dr.- Ing.Hans Wilhelm Gierlich and Dr. Jamshid Khun-Jush and Mr. Anthony Wiles as ETSI fellows for their outstanding personal contribution to ETSI.

ETSI has announced that its Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) Plugtests™ event will take place from 14 to 18 June 2021. Over 20 vendors and more than 80 participants will participate.

The ETSI NFV&MEC API Plugtests™ 2021 event, which ran remotely during the whole month of February, allowed participants to self-evaluate the conformance of their API server implementations with network function virtualization and multi-access edge computing API specifications. The event allowed also to validate and gather feedback on ETSI NFV and MEC API and Conformance Testing Specifications, and associated Robot test suites. The ETSI Non-IP Networking group (ISG NIN) has just released its first three Group Reports. The first one, ETSI GR NIN 001, details the shortcomings of TCP/IP for fixed and mobile networks; the second Report, ETSI GR NIN 002, considers testing Non-IP Networking over 5G cellular Radio Access Networks; and ETSI GR NIN 003 describes the networking model that is the foundation for the new technology.

ETSI has successfully completed its international emergency communications interoperability testing event. 285 test pairings, with 87% demonstrating interoperability, were run from 22 February to 5 March 2021, both in Europe and across the Atlantic to assess the compatibility of products for mission-critical public safety services. This remote event was a cooperation between ETSI, EENA, the European Emergency Number Association and for the first time NENA, the 9-1-1 Association.

ETSI is pleased to unveil ETSI TS 119 182-1, a specification for digital signatures supported by PKI and public key certificates which authenticates the origin of transactions ensuring that the originator can be held accountable and access to sensitive resources can be controlled.

ETSI is pleased to announce a new specification, ETSI TS 103 523-2: Transport Layer MSP (TLMSP), Part 2 of the Middlebox Security Protocol (MSP) series, which defines a protocol for varied (fine-grained) access control to communications traffic. This specification was developed by the ETSI Technical Committee CYBER.
