ETSI announces MEC Sandbox for edge app developers

ETSI announces the launch of ETSI MEC Sandbox, available at https://try-mec.etsi.org/. The Sandbox is designed to allow application developers to experience and interact with an implementation of ETSI MEC APIs and test out their applications.

ETSI releases Middlebox Security Protocols framework specification

ETSI is pleased to announce a new specification, ETSI TS 103 523-1: Part 1 of the Middlebox Security Protocol (MSP) series, which defines the security properties of a Middlebox Security Protocol.


Open Source MANO Release NINE fulfils ETSI's zero-touch automation vision, ready for MEC and O-RAN use cases

ETSI is pleased to announce the launch of OSM Release NINE today. With an array of new features, this Release completes the alignment process with ETSI NFV specifications, culminating in native adoption of ETSI GS NFV-SOL006 for network functions and service modelling. Standardizing the onboarding process for VNFs into OSM fosters interoperability and boosts the growth of OSM’s VNF ecosystem. Release NINE coincides with the announcement of a new production deployment, confirming OSM as the most comprehensive open-source NFV orchestrator and a key enabler for zero-touch end-to-end network and service automation.

ETSI announces MEC 5G Integration Report and extension of ISG MEC

The ETSI Multi-access Edge Computing group (ETSI ISG MEC) has recently released the Group Report ETSI GR MEC 031 that describes the key issues, solution proposals and recommendations for MEC integration into 3GPP 5G systems.

ETSI ISG MEC started their endeavour with the 3GPP 5G system specification when working on their White Paper published in June 2018. This White Paper confirmed the great synergies between the 3GPP 5G and MEC systems and how they both complemented each other in serving the edge computing demands of the 5G era. The Paper also highlighted main topics for further study, which provided the motivation for the creation of the ETSI GR MEC 031 MEC 5G Integration Report.

‘Designing tomorrow’s world’: ETSI unveils strategy in line with its ambitious vision

At the meeting of its General Assembly yesterday ETSI has validated a new strategy, the result of an intensive development process over the last months.

Titled ‘Designing tomorrow’s world’, the strategy has been shaped by ETSI’s diverse global community, drawing on the expertise and experience of more than 900 member organizations that include multinational and smaller companies, start-ups, research organizations and governmental institutions.
