Advert for a Research & Innovation Technical Officer – Strategy and Innovation (SNI)
The SNI Technical Officer will focus their activities on the European Research Activities including (but not limited to) EU funded research projects, research and innovation platforms as well as working towards the improvement of ETSI’s service offering for researchers and academics.
The SNI Technical Officer will work under the supervision of the Director of SNI, in collaboration with other Services and Departments within the Secretariat, and also with ETSI Members and partners.
Mission
The SNI Technical Officer will have the following key responsibilities (list not exhaustive):
- Develop active working relationships with key European R&D communities, projects and academia
- Identify the most relevant European research programmes / projects and coordinate ETSI’s engagement with them (e.g. Letters of support and advisory boards)
- Promote and position ETSI within the European research / academic communities as the appropriate venue for exploiting research results through standardization
- Identify and develop the necessary tools and services to serve the specific needs of the research and academic communities in ETSI
- Identify potential new technologies for standardization in close cooperation with proponents (e.g., ETSI members, potential new members, as well as researchers and relevant research projects)
- Develop the required technical knowledge of relevant technologies and share both internally and externally
Profile
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Balance of skills and experience including:
- Knowledge / experience of telecommunications engineering
- Knowledge / experience of standardization processes in Europe and globally
- Knowledge / experience of technology Research in projects industry / academia or similar
- Strong communication skills and a “hands-on” mentality with abilities in decision-making and problem-solving are essential
- Results oriented and a strong team player
- Dynamic and self-driven
- An excellent command of spoken and written English is essential
- Moderate international travel will be required
