Event type: Interoperability Events

ETSI Centre for Testing and Interoperability (CTI) on behalf of TC ESI, ETSI’s Technical Committee for Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures organized a remote Plugtests interoperability event on Electronic Signature Validation. This event was run remotely from 16 May to 15 July 2022 using a dedicated web portal. 

Scope

The aim of the event was to check the interoperability of ETSI advanced digital signatures and the validation capacities of the participants in order to help them detect possible issues which may lead to different validation results.

The interoperability testing allowed participants to test their digital signature validation tools and to cross-validate ETSI Electronic Signatures/Seals relying on EU Member States' Trusted Lists (based on TS 119 612 and TS 119 615) and according to the following standards:

Event type: Interoperability Events

ETSI Centre for Testing and Interoperability (CTI) is organizing a remote Plugtests interoperability event on Registered Electronic Mail (REM) standard. Originally planned to run remotely from 31 May to 18 June 2021 using a testing infrastructure and a dedicated portal, this event was extended upon participants' request until 16 July 2021. The participation is free of charge.

Scope

Registered Electronic Email service provides secure and reliable delivery of emails between parties, producing evidence of the delivery process for legal accountability. Evidence can be seen as a declaration by a trusted party that a specific event related to the delivery happened at a certain time. Evidence can be immediately delivered to the interested party or can be kept in a repository for later access.

The scope of the event is to check the interoperability of REM services by verifying Secure Electronic Mail service exchange and the ability to generate trusted electronic evidence attesting that certain relevant events have occurred. The goal is to ensure maximal interoperability in cross-REM interoperability domain and, specifically, in cross-border use of REM services.

This one-day tutorial took place on Monday 21 October in ETSI and was dedicated to understanding and experiencing the use of oneM2M opensource solutions, with practical hands-on development activities.

The ETSI IoT Workshop, taking place in ETSI premises (Sophia Antipolis, FR), will start on 22 October and end on 25 October. The workshop attendees will have the opportunity to visit the IoT Standard Showcases during the coffee and lunch breaks on 22–24 October.

The event will include an essential update on the major IoT standardization, such as those ongoing in ETSI, oneM2M, SmartM2M and 3GPP.

An essential element of deploying IoT services is the choice and the availability of IoT communication technologies such as those developed by the 3GPP partnership project (NB-IoT, LTE- M). Selecting the right IoT connectivity technologies, that are optimized for multiple IoT solutions and work at scale, is essential to ensuring futureproof and sustainable IoT deployments.

Interoperability and interworking remain key factors for a successful development of IoT. This is particularly true when it comes to ensuring the security and semantic interoperability. The standards being developed in ETSI, oneM2M and 3GPP, act as the essential “glue" between the various technologies that are present in the complex IoT ecosystem.

The IoT Standard Showcases will enable attendees to see and interact with real-life implementations of standard based technologies for oneM2M standard and SAREF, communication networks (e.g. 3GPP cellular 5G) applied to IoT services.
